Nicki's BotService's Relay Channel
Policy
Here are some guidelines that staff should observe
when dealing with our users in the relay channel. All of them are based on two
major premises:
- The primary purpose of the relay channel is to provide help to users of
our bots
- We want our service to be known as friendly and co-operative, just as any
customer service business would
However, it is also true that no staff
member should have to put up with intolerable abuse.
Help with What?
We help people who have questions about our bots or service.
However, when no one is getting such help, we also help with anything else
that the online staff feels they can help with --- be it help with someone
else's bot, with channel services, etc.
Social Chatters
Social chatter is fine, in
itself, however, there are two situations in which staff should put a stop to
it:
- when it is interfering with someone who wants help
- when it becomes annoying
Idlers
Idlers, by definition, don't interrupt
anyone getting help. However, if they are running an away script, for example,
that can be annoying, so please boot them in that case. In fact, being away is
annoying, and means the nick isn't a person any more -- fair game for kicking.
Bots
Rule: No bots but our bots
I see no
need to risk script conflicts, or take the time needed to check that there are
no such conflicts.
Swearing
This is a judgement call, but as a
guideline, when a person swears he should be asked not to, and if he does it
again, get rid of him. Whether it be kick, 1 hour ban, perm ban etc,is a matter
of judgement.
Spamming
Spamming via quit messages is
normally ok, but please ban any that are outrageous in a 'family' channel.
In-channel spamming is not to be tolerated.
